Script to monitor:
- Memory Usage
- Swap Usage
- Inodes Usage
- Disk Usage
Disk and Inode monitors are working for '/' only
Script can be configured via cw_metrics.ini or using EC2 Instance tags If using configuration file ,make sure that the ini file is in same location as the script. If using tags only, global configuration will be default
Only in config file Logfile - Path to the log file. Comment/Delete to print log to STDOUT (default)
Loglevel - Loglevel, can be:
- DEBUG
- INFO
- WARNING (default)
- ERROR
- CRITICAL
Period - Period in seconds between each check (default 1 minute)
Tag - Name of the tag with configuration for monitor (default 'CW_Monitoring')
Possible monitors:
- MemUsage - RAM memory usage
- SwapUsage - Swap usage
- InodesUsage - Inodes usage
- DiskUsage - Disk space usage
Each monitor configuration is Secontion. To disable monitor on server comment/delet the section.
Each monitor section must have this options: Metrics - How many metrics to keep for statistics, equalent to CloudWatch DataSamples
SendMetricsCount - How many check to run before sending the data. Period x SendMetricsCount = Time between each send
Configuration tag default name is 'CW_Monitoring', if using configuration file tag name can be changed.
Tag value contain what monitors to enable on the server and how many periods to check before sending data.
In tag configuration this also equalent to CloudWatch DataSamples count.
Each monitor seperated with semicolon (;).
For example
CW_Monitoring: MemUsage=5;DiskUsage=10
Enabling/Disabling monitors via tag can be done without restarting the monitor, but it must be running on the server.
No need to install, only requirements:
$~> sudo pip install -r requirements.txt
Run the script from shell:
$~> sudo python cw_metrics.py
Install Supervisord
$~> sudo apt-get install supervisor
or
$~> sudo yum install supervisor
Copy 'cw_metrics.conf' to config folder
$~> sudo cp cw_metrics.conf /etc/supervisor/conf.d/
Restart Supervisord
$~> sudo service supervisor restart
