We wanted to create a dynamic website that would be visually appealing to the user, while also allowing them to do research on past historical and current space events and occurrences. This application is designed to highlight and exhibit celestial events and phenomena.
Users can view the NASA Astronomy POD in this section. They can also select a past day to view the image for that day. Details displayed alongside the image are the title, description and date.
This feature lets users find Celestial objects nearing earth for the selected day. The date picker allows users to select dates from past and future. Data returned from the Nasa NEO api is formatted to display each object as a card. Details include name, speed, approach date and size.
Users can search for NASA images using the search field. The last 8 unique searches are saved to local storage and available to users to click and view the results.
We created the site utilizing Materialize CSS to facilitate the functionality of the site, from the buttons for past searches, to the navigation bar, and the page responsiveness.
