Pit Firing

Something you will have to do a lot in the early game is pit firing. Pit Firing is the first way to fire clay into bricks, clay molds, jugs, pots, and more.

  1. First, collect some straw, logs, and clay.
  2. Use the clay to craft whatever products you will want to fire. Clay vessels and tool molds are good to start with.
  3. Next, place a single straw into a hole in the ground surrounded with dirt on all 4 sides.
  4. You can then right click with the unfired clay items to place them in the pit. There is room for 4 items.
  5. Right click several more times with straw to fill up the hole until no more can be placed.
  6. Then place 4 logs by right clicking into the straw again. This should fill it up to the top.
  7. Finally, using two sticks, light the top on fire, and wait for the process to complete. It will take about 1 minecraft day, depending on how many items are being fired. It may be helpful to have multiple pits firing at once.
  8. After it is done firing, the items will be in a pile of ashes that can be dug up with a shovel, dropping your fired clay items.
