Runserver is added to Daphne in django/daphne#429 allowing users of other ASGI servers to use Channels without requiring Daphne and Twisted. To use add daphne to INSTALLED_APPS before django.contrib.staticfiles: INSTALLED_APPS = [ "daphne", ... ]
