I think that PR title was bad asked for clarification. .NET 8 was just in tests and then some package bumps not directly tied to .NET 8 #2566 (comment)

The v2.0.0-beta6.25358.103 release page says "17 commits to main since this release", and the oldest of those commits is from 2025-06-20, a month before the 2025-07-23 release.

It seems Microsoft imported the latest changes from this repository to the 10.0.1xx-preview6 branch in dotnet/dotnet on 2025-06-20 and then stopped importing any more changes, to avoid the risk of introducing any new unknown bugs. A month later, they released .NET 10.0 Preview 6 from that branch and tagged here the last commit that they had imported. But I feel this should be better explained in the System.CommandLine release notes themselves.

command-line-api now ships with the other core stack repositories as part of the monthly preview releases which is the reason why the title got named that way.

Fixed. We eventually want to align the release in this repository with the other core stack repositories and use that title but not at this point. That was unintentional. Thanks for letting us know.

Correct. There's an intentional delay between the last commit that we take for a given release (in this case beta6) until we ship the product (in this case to nuget.org). This is by design as we test the product in various ways and also coordinate changes with partners.
