Flat land near a river is usually a flood plain and in times of heavy rain
it is inundated, so building there is not safe
Dad and I witnessed the devastation it can cause with loss of lives and
lively hoods. In fact, building anywhere on a water course no matter how
dry or ancient, is unwise
