I can seem comments in the code complaining about lack of async for rosrust.

I also hit this problem and ended up developing the native ros1 implementation for roslibrust as a result.
I'm actively maintaining roslibrust, and have a professional interest in roslibrust and zenoh-ros1-bridge playing well together.
No idea what the appetite would be for considering a backend swap?
