Is this PR still relevant? I do not really understand the purpose / function of this feature. What remote OPDS server would accept the HTTP POST request? (is this an experiment internal to EDRLab?)

yes it is still relevant. This is a working in progress project to support an OPDS2 publication server currently in development also.
