If k8sMapping["namespace"]
return nil
it will panic. Perhaps you can check the value first or you can just add the namespace.annotations
key at top level at kubemetaMap.(common.MapStr).Clone()
. Sth like this:
ckMeta := kubemetaMap.(common.MapStr).Clone()
if len(namespaceAnnotations) != 0 {
ckMeta.Put("kubernetes.annotations", namespaceAnnotations)
}
k8sMapping := map[string]interface{}(ckMeta)

TBH I thought there is no way that this can be nil for a pod or a service

With the changes here elastic-agent can still run as root, but the subprocesses can lower their privileges ASAP. This should also make it possible for heartbeat to safely run ICMP pings and synthetics. Synthetics must run as non-root, but ICMP requires NET_RAW. This lets us be consistent in our docs with the recommendation that elastic-agent run as root. * mage fmt Co-authored-by: kaiyan-sheng <kaiyan.sheng@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: Victor Martinez <victormartinezrubio@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Ugo Sangiorgi <ugo.sangiorgi@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: Dan Kortschak <90160302+efd6@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Arnaud Lefebvre <a.lefebvre@outlook.fr> Co-authored-by: Aleksandr Maus <aleksandr.maus@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: apmmachine <58790750+apmmachine@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Michael Katsoulis <michaelkatsoulis88@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Noémi Ványi <kvch@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Blake Rouse <blake.rouse@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: LaZyDK <dennisperto@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Marius Iversen <marius.iversen@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: Andrea Spacca <andrea.spacca@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: Mariana Dima <mariana@elastic.co> Co-authored-by: Andrew Cholakian <andrew@andrewvc.com>

…mespace.annotations (elastic#28230)" This reverts commit 058c405.
What does this PR do?
As part of #16483 and after merging of #27917 which
kubernetes.namespace
from keyword to group field.kubernetes.namespace
which was the name of the namespace tokubernetes.namespace.name
field.namespace_labels
andnamespace_annotations
metadata tonamespace.labels
andnamespace.annotations
Agent's k8s provider needs to be handled accordingly.
In this PR
namespace.annotations
instead ofnamespace_annotations
.Why is it important?
The fields
namespace_annotations
will not be published anymore in 8.0 release. The namespace annotations will be part ofnamespace
field which is updated from string to group.Checklist
