As well as the dropdown menu of intervals, it would be good to allow freeform entry (like in Kibana 3). For example, the difference in resolution between hourly and daily can be a lot.

This should be possible with the JSON parameter editing of aggs, but I agree, it would be nice to have an interface for this.

This was quite important for us in Kibana3. It would be nice to also have it in Kibana4.

+1 - Just a little info, for whoever decides to tackle this...

This is due to how time buckets work, with a fixed moment.duration of 1 - see here

So, in the agg builder, intervals right now are limited to 1:

Seems easy enough to add a RegExp or something to pluck out numbers and allow other options, like "12 hours", "30 seconds", etc, but there are probably more comprehensive ways to enable this.
