On Kibana 4's Discover page, there is a histogram/visualization that displays above the logs. Is there a way to hide it?

I think this would be a good functionality.
The histogram in discover view slows down the query speed used to get the data. If it could be disabled we could browse our logs faster.

Having similar issue with Kibana 6.3.2 (#32328).

It would be great to have an option which disables the histogram at "Discover" page (in order to remove date_histogram aggregation from the default search query). This aggregation slows things multiple times. In my tests it is 116.8s vs 2.5s for search with 4h timerange.

+1, I've never used it and it just gets in the way.

with Adblock Plus you could hide the Histogram (various controls), however its only visual, because the internal query runs equals.

This has been implemented via #83633 and will be available from 7.11 onwards.

It will not prevent the data from be loaded, but that will be addressed as part of #69134 (in which case hiding the chart will prevent that chart query from triggering).

Also the setting does not yet persist when saving/loading the saved search, but that will be addressed in #86293
