Since the creation of new data products (most notably the "now" timekeeping variants), it seems that a new release for 2024a should be created after 2024-03-01 to account for the transition to a unified Kazakhstan timezone on that date. See the timezone database NEWS. There do not seem to be any other changes that would warrant a release prior to that date.

It seems that the 2023d release unfortunately did not have correct data in the "same since now" datasets for Kazakhstan due to a build error. This will be remedied in the 2024a release.

There are additional time changes in 2024 after the Kazakhstan changes. The most notable instance is for America/Scoresbysund which switches to align with Greenland on March 31. In order to minimize the amount of work, an additional release(s) will not be made for the 2024a timezone database release to account for the America/Scoresbysund or any other zones that would have timekeeping methods that would align with a new set of zones after a certain date. Such changes would only affect the "same since now" datasets which would result in some zones merging into others. The "same since now" datasets should still have correct data for times in the future.
