Archive iOS build after enable Hermes in Pods takes a lot of time

After turn on Hermes in pods, the archive build is stuck and never finished.

1. in Podfile enable hermes :hermes_enabled => true
2. Xcode > Product > Archive

Expected Results

Archive build is done and I can upload it to the Testflight.

Did you run pod install inside ios folder after updating the value? Hermes takes longer to build the apps btw.

@sayem314 sure, I did. It's working just fine in dev mode on the ios simulator. Also, I was able to use debug in Flipper via Hermes.

How much longer? Will it take more than an hour if the regular build takes around 5 minutes?

I'm not sure why it's not working for you in release mode since dev is working fine. Make sure all your dependencies are compatible with Hermes. My app on Github actions used to take around 24m to build but after react-native 0.64 upgrades and Hermes enable it's taking around 38m.

@sayem314 thank you for confirming it's working on your end. Once I have time, I'm going to do more tests and find out if there are dependencies that cause such an issue.

confirming issue, for react-native 0.64 and enabled hermes, our build takes in Jenkins up to 56 minutes. Mb somebody have solution?

Confirming the issue. Took about 10 hours to build.
I had killed 2-3 previous build, thinking they were dead, until I came across this thread. Persevered, and finally got a build.

Machine is a 2014 MacBook Pro
2.6GHz Dual Core Inter Core i5
8 GB Memory

I was not able to reproduce this on a clean react-native install

I initially saw this problem on ms appcenter builds. After which I reproduced it locally.
