Response: Where possible we should be sharing taxonomic names. However, Paleo names may have a different hierarchy than extant names, therefore be careful when choosing to link to Paleo names. If you need to create your own version of the family you can. |

Description: Mammals – How can we retrieve the correct IRN for the family Pseudocheiridae? Taxonomy search results show one but it is a grayed out Paleo record (IRN555433). Lower class searches show Pseudocheiridae in their hierarchy, but only via lookup list (example: Pseudocheirus, IRN211885). Should we be using Paleo IRNs when we don’t currently have the same record of our own? This is one of a few families we’ve found lately where we are experiencing this problem.
