For NPM 16 & later, the original 'npm install' with the '-g' has been deprecated and causes a warning flag to show up. Nodejs v14 and older does not show a flag.

As @clydin mentioned in a different project, the --global flag was mistakenly deprecated in version 8.11. The deprecation was reverted in version 8.12.1 (npm/cli#4982). Closing without merging or further action. |
