Can't launch the Mac App on Sonoma 14.2

Describe the Bug

I have downloaded all three versions of the Mac app (1.0, 1.1, and 1.2) and none of them will launch. Upon clicking the icon (whether it is in the installer .dmg or in the application folder after I moved it), I get the following error: "You can't use this version of the application "Pangolin" with this version of macOS."

This is on a Apple M2 Pro 13"

The icon also shows a Crossed out Circle over it.

The minimum MacOS version right now is 14.6. We are looking to see if we can drop that to 14 for the next release but I recommend updating your computer.

I see. I might suggest updating the website as it lists 14.0 as required

I upgraded to Tahoe (26.2) and installed the app but I don't think its working properly. Id like to better understand what is supposed to happen then I can submit a proper bug report if needed. Once the VPN is added, what is supposed to happen next? How are you supposed to login and connect it to your pangolin instance? Nothing at all is currently happening.

die you follow the instructions? There is some manual configuration necessary.

Follow the Pangolin onboarding flow, which will guide you to install the Pangolin VPN configuration.
Select Open System Settings on startup when it asks to install a network extension.
In System Settings, under General > Login Items & Extension > By Category > Network Extensions, ensure that Pangolin.app is toggled on.
Select Allow when Pangolin asks to add a VPN configuration.

@Lokowitz I did. There was no onboarding flow at all that occurred so I did everything manually per those instructions. The toggle for the VPN wont turn on. But my questions was specifically regarding the next step in the instructions, which states:

Log in with your Pangolin account
Log in on [your Pangolin Cloud](https://pangolin.net/support) account or your self-hosted Pangolin instance.
Click the Pangolin icon in the menu bar and select Log in.

Im unclear how to login. Im guessing if I was able to turn on the VPN, a menu bar item would appear on my mac which is probably the issue.

After installing you need to start Pangolin from your apps.
After that you should see the Pangolin icon on the top right corner.

If you see the 3 dots in front of that icon, like in the screenshot, you have to enable the extension:

In System Settings, under General > Login Items & Extension > By Category > Network Extensions, ensure that Pangolin.app is toggled on.

Otherwise click on the icon and go to login and select cloud or self-hosted:

@Lokowitz Thanks for the reply. Something is definately not working on my end.

I have no pangolin in my status bar

Pangolin does show up in VPNs but it wont let me activate it. If I toggle it on, it immediately turns off

@titandrive It has to be toggled via the menu bar app. The toggle in the settings is intentionally non-functional because you have to login / confirm authentication before connection.

Can you confirm Pangolin.app is running? Do you see the process in Activity Monitor? What version of macOS are you running?

I lowered the build target to 14.0. This should be available in the next release.
