Turns out emulating the modem instead of the BBA causes reduced performance, and also despite PSO complaining it doesn't support the BBA in some V1 versions, it does actually work, it just needs any DNS info saved to the flash memory (even if blank).
Flycast also sets up an ISP and e-mail account by default now, so no need to tell people to set up an e-mail account.
