Any way to compile and use JES without using the interface? #118
Comments
It is possible to run Jython from the command line and load the media libraries from there, so that you can do everything that we do in JES but from Jython instead. fWe explain how to do it on page 302 (Section 10.7) in the 4ed Python book.

Subject: [gatech-csl/jes] Any way to compile and use JES without using the interface? (#118)
I am teaching a course where students are used to using text editors like Sublime to write their code. We're wondering if there's any way to utilize JES without the user interface? Please let me know, thanks :)

Can someone give detailed info about running JES related functions & libraries in jython? I really want to use PyCharm instead of the JES IDE. @mjguzdial |
This is a multi-step process:
- You need to get PyCharm to use Jython. I looked around on the Web, and there are several places that explain how to do that. I'm not an expert on any of those.
- You need to access the Media.py library from Jython. We explain how to do it on page 302 (Section 10.7) in the 4ed Python book.
This doesn't give you JES, but it does give you all of the picture, sound, and movie API.
