Chinese input BUG on MacOS

What happened?

When open a term (I'm using Ghostty), start Gemini CLI, and try to input Chinese words, the result is imcomplete when you try to input a Chinese phrase - it only shows the last Chinese character in the whole phrase; for example, I use Pinyin to type 天天向上 as a whole phrase, which is a very common way to input Chinese, it shows only the last Chinese word 上. This has been bothering literally all Chinese users who use Mac, because basically everyone depends on input phrase to type in Chinese. Please fix this bug ASAP, thanks!!

I also encountered exactly the same issue. I’m using Zhuyin (Bopomofo) IME on macOS, both the built-in input method and third-party ones, and they all have the same problem: when I type a whole sentence or phrase, only the last character is actually input after I press Enter.

I believe this is not limited to Chinese IMEs — any input method that lets you type a full phrase and commit it at once (like Japanese IMEs) should have the same problem.

Please help to fix this, it’s really critical for users who type in these languages. Thanks!

I saw someone shared another workaround in a different issue: #2361 (comment). I tested it on my side and it works — you can give it a try too!

In short, using npm install -g @google/gemini-cli and running gemini works fine with the input method. The problem only happens when running with npx https://github.com/google-gemini/gemini-cli .
