_version.pywhen installing using pip from git branch, instead of PyPI #38 (comment)When running from PyPI version and the
_version.pyis generated, it will use that, otherwise it will read from metadata, which seems to be populated correctly in the above installation method.Also adding
--versionto quickly check your version, like most command-line tools.
