Getting unwieldy. Before too long it will be a performance problem.

Raised by @lyndsysimon on #80.

This is a response to Github issue gratipay#286. I've set the limit to
500, please feel free to change it. I considered adding the limit
as a constant, but decided against it as this is the only place
it's likely to be used.

So - I'm new to the "social coding" process still. I see that Github saw my reference in lyndsysimon/www.gittip.com - is it necessary then that I create a pull request, or is the mention of the issue in the commit (and the subsequent notification in this thread) sufficient?
