Recruitment Message

Tracking and scheduling This doc is temporarily public for feedback, and afterward, I think we should restrict it.

I just created this. Please feel free to suggest some feedback on improving this.

@lrchang2 @abryant35 Do we have a team email from which we could send/receive responses? Will there be a budget for recruitment?

@melissamurphy Please add update using this template (even if you have a pull request)

Progress: "What is the current status of your project? What have you completed and what is left to do?"
Blockers: "Difficulties or errors encountered."
Availability: "How much time will you have this week to work on this issue?"
ETA: "When do you expect this issue to be completed?"
Pictures: "Add any pictures of the visual changes made to the site so far."

If you need help, be sure to either: 1) ask for help at your next meeting, 2) put a "Status: Help Wanted" label on your issue and pull request, or 3) put up a request for assistance on the #access-the-data channel.

Progress: Message was flagged as spam. Took link out of message and a number of rewrites, but no success yet.
Blockers: Unknown why our message is automatically flagged as spam. Will need to look into this further (and possibly find alternatives)
Availability: 3 more hours this week (outside of meeting times).
ETA: This week.

Survey recruitment emails were sent to 20 different neighborhood councils, to their top-listed executive officers. Emails were sent via the Access the Data email, and the recruitment template.. @melissamurphy

Survey recruitment sent to 12 emails from people involved Food Not Bombs around LA. Sent via my personal email. Used the recruitment template as a guide for the email.

Progress: Made interview-scheduling email template + Doodle poll for scheduling (log into AtD gmail to make changes). Interview options set to weekday afternoons starting next week. The last word was to use Doodle for simplicity (i.e. no syncing needed)--are we switching back to trying Calendly @mathhomework?
Blockers: Need to confirm email template + 1 scheduling system
Availability: 2.5 hours spent on this issue so far; 1 more available this week.
ETA: As soon as we confirm the above, we can start emailing out invitations to those open to it (from screener survey)

Progress:

1 interviewee scheduled for this Thurs 11/18. Interviewee recruited from social media sharing from our team. I will conduct and second researcher @ashleyxz will be present for note-taking.

Blockers:

  • Blocker 1 continues to be spam filtering. Meetup, Facebook, etc. have excluded our message from being sent due to spam filtering.
  • Blocker 2 - Unavailable newsletter - Stakeholder had informed us we will not be able to use neighborhood newsletter for recruitment for several months.
  • Blocker 3 is new target audience channels. We would like to reach the same target audience that the product will be marketed to upon launch, and through the same channels. What are some of these channels? Will NC's be targeted? @ExperimentsInHonesty @snooravi

Availability

1 hour for interview tomorrow and 1 interview to go over findings with @ashleyxz (who also is working with me on #87 Content issue and content inventory)

@melissamurphy lets talk during meeting about

  1. how we can get around the spam filtering, but also how we think we got caught in it.
  • meetup groups, go to meeting and message host to get on agenda
  • tell them you're developing a nonprofit, free, open source program aimed at supporting community activism and ask for people to talk to or referrals to other people/groups
  1. which NC is blocking adding to newsletter
  • ask Julien how to directly talk to NC (specifically who)
  • give text to Bonnie to put into the newsletter
  1. Next Door, EmpowerLA newsletter, twitter and other social media.
  • free ad credit through H4LA for Next Door and Facebook
  • create Twitter account to follow NC account and directly message/tweeting them
    • develop message and process (5 accounts) -create messaging document
    • messaging is about workshops, not website
