Overview

We need to add information to each project md file so that we can display it on the new Impact format

Action Items

  • Identify all the projects from the slide deck and list them below by making new check boxes
    • check of the boxes for
      • has wording
      • has sdg in sdg check 1
    • Identify if its the correct sdg in sdg check 2
  • Bonnie will identify projects that are not yet in the deck that need to be added to this list

ON HOLD

  • Make template issue (put it in comments) that we could reuse for having a developer add the content to the md file.
    • Get signoff on the template
  • Make all the related developer issues from the template

Resources/Instructions

slide deck: What is Hack for LA? - current version
SDG details: https://sdg.lamayor.org/
https://github.com/hackforla/product-management/tree/master/project-one-sheets

Example if a project did not match its sdg

  • 311
    • Has wording
      • Problem
      • Solution
      • Impact
    • Approval of wording
      • Problem
      • Solution
      • Impact
    • SDG identified
      • SDG check 1 - yes thy have an sdg
      • SDG check 2 - example if it does not seem to match, recommend X sdg

Resources

311

problem: The city produces a data set from all the 311 tickets placed. This data is useful if you are a data scientist, but for citizens without this training it has little value.
solution: We partnered with the Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and LA Neighborhood Councils to co-create and iterate analysis and tools (see 311-Data.org) to provide neighborhoods with actionable information at the local level through real time visualizations and comparison tools.
impact: Neighborhood Councils are able to use visualizations to demonstrate and discuss the city service levels with constituents and determine where to send mailings to target information to those parts of their community not availing themselves of specific city services.
sdg: '16.8: Broaden and strengthen the awareness and participation of City and local communities, especially those traditionally underserved and marginalized, in the institutions of local and global governance.'

  1. Progress: List of projects on the slide deck made. I have checked projects that have wording and SDGs. The remaining work to do is to check the matching of SDGs selected with respective projects.
  2. Blockers: No blockers
  3. Availability: 2-3 hours individual and collaborative work

Progress: Task completed. I have checked all projects that have wording and SDGs and proposed SDG that fit where needed. Since the SDGs are global goals, I have mostly used "indicators" to check SDGs that are aligned to localized national targets and city government plans and policies of LA. Then the choices were made based on the intended impact of the respective project in line with those targets and indicators.
Blockers: No blockers
Availability: 2-3 hours of individual and collaborative work Not available due to health issues since Sunday. Thought I would have already recovered.

Progress: Projects double-checked.
Blockers: @ExperimentsInHonesty Please need clarification on what informations need to be filled in based on the new google sheet provided (Program Area Audit). Should I simply do the same work for the new projects added in that sheet (for example "Design Systems") and add them to the checking list above, and to the PowerPoint (under the appropriate program area)?
Availability: 2-3 hours of individual and collaborative work.
ETA: Task to be completed before next PM meeting 13/10/2021.

# program area card data
# What problem this project addresses
problem: It is challenging to find reusable, well-documented open source code solutions. The developers who do strive to provide these solutions struggle to either get visibility for their code or to support their users (when their code is found). As a result, repeating work has become the norm, with the world’s 27 million developers stuck in the cycle of reinventing many wheels in every code base they write.
# How this project provides a solution to the problem
solution: 100 Automations is an accessible, easy-to-use website that showcases and maintains reusable, well-documented code for open source projects. For creators, it provides a platform to share, get credit and visibility for their work and a team structure to spread the load of supporting end users.
# The impact of this project
impact: 100 Automations will help improve productivity in the open source community. (formula needed to calculate exact impact)
# The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) this project falls under (e.g. 9)
sdg: 9
# The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target (e.g. the b in 9.b)
sdg-target: b
