Description

As of Opensearch 1.1, fine-grained access control can be enabled on existing clusters. Currently, the existing aws_elasticsearch_domain resource will not allow fine-grained access control to be enabled even when the version is set to Opensearch_1.1.

Hi, to add some clarification on version support for fine-grained access control on existing domains. It is not only supported for OpenSearch domains, but also certain versions of Elasticsearch domains. See below.

You can enable fine-grained access control on existing domains running OpenSearch or Elasticsearch 6.7 or later.
