Hi Ron, Holos uses the numerical values associated with the additive options from table 13 which is a code file beginning on line 193: This value is then used to calculate the base N2O emission factor according to equation 2.5.4-1. The reduction factor will be the "RF_AM" term in that equation. Let me know if you have any other questions Aaron |

Hi Aaron,
Couple of questions:
1. How does Holos use the “Season of Application” when adding a fertilizer?
2. Is there any points in Holos where a fertilizer source (country) does not matter?
Thanks

Hi Ron,
Holos uses the numerical values associated with the additive options from table 13 which is a code file beginning on line 193:
https://github.com/holos-aafc/Holos/blob/dbe7667929dee3f2cafbe2a1de7323ad17963ca5/H.Core/Providers/Soil/Table_13_Soil_N2O_Emission_Factors_Provider.cs#L193
This value is then used to calculate the base N2O emission factor according to equation 2.5.4-1. The reduction factor will be the "RF_AM" term in that equation.
Let me know if you have any other questions

So Holos assumes all fertilizers are made in the same country or have the same production value?

Hi Ron, the season of application is a placeholder only. Right now it has no effect on the calculations but it will be utilized in a future version of Holos. It can be ignored for now.
The country of origin production is not currently considered. The only factor related to the production/location of the fertilizer is the values used from table 48. The referenced paper in that table might have more information. I'm not sure if this answers your second question or not. Let me know if it does.

I am interested to know how the selection of a fertilizer additive affects algorithms or emission calculations? I looked through the algorithm document and could not find a reference. Thank you.
