@thisistz Thank you for highlighting this important translation consistency concern.

🎯 Understanding the Translation Conflict Issue

I understand that the existing translated content in the Hugging Face course (like PR #477) follows an EN → Simplified Chinese → Traditional Chinese workflow, which has resulted in many technical terms and proper nouns that don't align with Taiwan usage. My approach will be direct EN → Traditional Chinese translation to ensure proper Taiwan localization.

🔄 Translation Workflow Comparison

The fundamental difference between these two approaches creates distinct outcomes:

Existing Workflow (EN → Simplified → Traditional):

  • Uses OpenCC conversion from Simplified Chinese
  • Retains Mainland China terminology and expressions
  • Results in terms like "算法" (algorithm), "数据" (data), "软件" (software)
  • May sound unnatural to Taiwan readers

My Proposed Workflow (Direct EN → Traditional):

  • Direct translation by Taiwan-familiar linguists
  • Uses Taiwan-standard terminology and expressions
  • Results in terms like "演算法" (algorithm), "資料" (data), "軟體" (software)
  • Natural and appropriate for Taiwan audiences

📊 Key Terminology Differences

English Term Current (CN→TW) My Approach (Taiwan)
Algorithm 算法 演算法
Data 数据 資料
Software 软件 軟體
Hardware 硬件 硬體
Database 数据库 資料庫

🎯 My Approach

To ensure consistency while providing Taiwan-appropriate translations:

  1. Pre-Translation Analysis: Review existing content to identify terminology conflicts
  2. Direct Translation: Translate directly from English to Traditional Chinese (Taiwan variant)
  3. Taiwan-Standard Terms: Use Taiwan technical terminology and expressions
  4. Quality Assurance: Cross-reference with Taiwan technical standards and ensure natural readability

This approach ensures that new translations will be genuinely localized for Taiwan while maintaining professional quality and consistency with Taiwan usage standards.

Would you like me to provide specific examples of how I would handle particular terminology conflicts in the course content?

Note: I deeply appreciate the existing translation efforts. The proposed direct EN→Traditional Chinese approach aims to complement these contributions by providing Taiwan-specific localization that aligns with local technical standards and usage patterns.

I translated this chapter myself from English to traditional Chinese, there is no such issue of using simplified Chinese.
Your workflow has shown the same issues you've proposed like "帳戶" vs "帳號", "樹狀目錄“ vs “目錄樹”
Would recommend taking a closer look at my translation and create additions only.

Remove obsolete chapter reference to maintain current documentation
structure. This chapter was relocated to a different section.
- Replace "帳戶" with "帳號" following Taiwan usage conventions
- Optimize sentence structures for natural Chinese reading flow
- Simplify technical descriptions (e.g., "獨立的目錄結構" instead of "自包含的目錄樹")
- Maintain consistency with established Taiwan technical terminology glossary
- Preserve clear structure and professional tone from original translation

This ensures the Chapter 0 introduction follows Taiwan localization standards
while maintaining translation quality and readability.

Hi @thisistz, thank you for taking the time to review my translation and provide detailed feedback.
I appreciate your insights regarding the terminology choices.

After careful consideration of your comments and reviewing the project's terminology standards, I believe the best path forward is to close this PR. This will allow us to maintain consistency across the translation project and avoid potential conflicts in terminology choices.

I'll focus my contributions on translating other chapters where I can add value while adhering to the established conventions. I remain committed to helping improve the project and will ensure future contributions align with the team's standards.

Thank you again for your thorough review. Looking forward to collaborating on other parts of the project!
