LeanLauncher-1.1.2-17-play-optimized.apk: debug version, with working Google Now feed

LeanLauncher-1.1.2-17-play-release.apk: release version, same as on Google Play Store, Google Now feed does not yet work

Changelog:

  • Probably the most requested feature is now a thing, initial support for individual app icon changing is added. Long press an app, tap on the "Preferences" shortcut, tap on "Override app icon", and do your thing.
  • 1.1.2 hot fixes an issue when certain apps were not applying custom icons in 1.1.1. There are still a few apps not applying custom icons, expect a fix soon.
  • Minor revamp of Settings categories, add summaries for clarity
  • Fix tapping app search bar, once again starts app search instead of Google search

About the future, Android P, updates, etc:
Most of you have noticed that the launcher is updated less and less. Some of you even started to say that the launcher is dead and I should f*** myself, that is not nice. I can assure you, the launcher is not dead. I have less free time that I can spend on the launcher, so expect less updates.

About Android P: No, I will not yet implement P designs. No, I will not give the P preview styles to the search bars. No, I cannot implement recent apps on devices prior to P. No, there is no Pixel 3 yet (at least not publicly available). First, Google will have to push the AOSP Launcher3 sources, and that is not going to happen until P stable is publicly released. You can check yourself when they push the sources on this link.

Also, this is very far in the future, but the idea of P and its gesture based navigation is so different than the standards set for the last 10 or so years, that I am toying with the idea of creating an alternative configuration of the launcher. So, something like this:

  • Lean Launcher: continues to have the Pixel 2 launcher design, based on Oreo 8.1 sources, nothing major changes, will NOT support gesture based navigation and recent apps inside launcher.
  • LeanPie Launcher: will probably have the Pixel 3 style, based on P sources, will support gesture based navigation, will support recent apps inside launcher, based on the sources, there is a chance that it will either support or not support devices prior P. This is a guess, but I think it may have support for older versions, with limited functionality.
