This would probably also be a good candidate for a backport to 0.15.x to keep the issues from people who are not capable of reading the last 5 issues in a repo to a minimum |

Ok this was now tested on Debian 9, 10, 11, 12 and Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04. It does not work on the latest ubuntu version - that might be something for another day. |
