About me - Bio

Ivan Ružević - JavaScript Engineer @Infinum

I’m 29 years old professional web developer with more than 10 years of design and development experience. Today I’m a Wordpress Teamlead @Infinum. My specialty is Frontend development but I have been working with a large variety of technologies and languages. I started as a designer back in 2007, but changed my focus on programing. Mainly I’m working with Frontend languages like JS, CSS/SASS, but I’m also highly comfortable with Backend technologies like PHP (Laravel, Symfony, Magento, Wordpress). Wordpress has been my focus from version 2.8 and I have been developing for it ever since.

To jQuery or not to jQuery - NOT HELD YET

Let us walk down the road less traveled and see how we can develop JavaScript without jQuery, but armed instead with the understanding of how vanilla JavaScript really works. Together we'll learn how to avoid the jQuery trap that many new and hobbyist web developers fall into, and see how we can benefit from going back to the JS roots instead.

What will the audience get:

Comparison of code in Vanilla JS vs jQuery, a brief history of the jQuery library and general advice on where and why to use it.

Icons - font or svg that is the question!

09.05.2017 - Infinum Js Talks #8

We all know that vector icons are lightyears ahead of raster icons in almost every way. But which of the two approaches - SVG icons or font icons - should we be using? In this talk, I'll help you understand and solve this mystery, and make your icons as sharp as a knife.

Frontend development - how to start and what to learn

22.04.2017 - WebCamp 2017, Ljubljana

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5IXJADFkbY

As a rookie in front-end development, you may ask yourself where to start and what to learn? Basics, frameworks, HTML, CSS, Javascript, pixel perfect, responsive and so on. A lot of big words to confuse and discourage you. Have no fear.

What will the audience get:

I'll walk you through some of the basics, tell you where to start, what to learn, in what order, and how to make your life less confusing than it already is. We will not be doing any coding, just general understanding what is a front-end developer and what it's skill sets are.
