Screenshots

  • Pressing p will save the data, as currently displayed, as a vector SVG file.
    • Please note that users have reported problems trying to save large analyses in this way (e.g. ROARY visualisation with millions of blocks). We recommend taking a screenshot from your computer instead - e.g. control+command+3 on OS X.
  • The saved filename (in most browsers) is Phandango.svg, however in Safari this is downloaded as Untitled which can be manually renamed to phandango.svg.
  • SVG files can be opened in a browser or image editing program such as Illustrator or Inkscape
  • Imagemagick can be used to convert between SVG and other formats such as PDF or PNG.

Bugs & Browser Quirks

Making things work consistently over different browsers and different operating systems is a bit of a nightmare. For best results we recommend using Chrome, but we have also tested it on Firefox (versions 45+), Opera (versions 36+) and Safari (versions 9+). We haven't been able to test Edge, and we don't hold much hope of it working on IE.

If you find a bug please let us know via email or file an issue on GitHub with the relevant information.

If your data doesn't display make sure you can load one of the example datasets first, then check the Input data formats page on this wiki. For very large files (especially ROARY files) you may need to use a script (see Input data formats) to minimise the file size! Don't hesitate to get in touch if you are still having problems.

Is my data being uploaded to a server?

No. Phandango runs completely on your computer and your files are not sent anywhere. We use Google Analytics to track usage, that's it.
