This is based on code written by Luke Page that was the predecessor to his extension "JSLint for Visual Studio 2010:"

SharpLinter is a command line tool to automate error-checking Javascript files (or HTML files with embedded Javascript) using JSLint or JSHint. It produces output that is formatted for Visual Studio's output window, so clicking on a line will locate the file and line in the IDE.
The output format is configurable, and is also suitable for any editor or tool that is designed to pass files to a command line tool and handle its output. Configuration instuctions for Visual Studio 2010, Sublime Text 2, and Textpad are provided below.
Each of the linting options can be specified in a configuration file as well (see below).
Unzip the files "dist/sharplinter.zip" into a folder that's in your path. Some users may need to deal with msvcp100.dll and msvcr100.dll (see below).
If you compile it youself, all these files should be copied into the SharpLinterExe/bin folder.

Basic usage: Process all files in the current directory:

Process a single file

Process and minify upon success all files matching ".js" to ".min.js" using best compression method
sharplinter -ph best *.min.js *.js

Options:
-[r]f c:\scripts\*.js parse all files matching "*.js" in "c:\scripts"
if called with "r", will recurse subfolders
The "f" is optional, any parameters passed
without an option will be treated a file.
-o "option, option ..." set jslint/jshint options specified, separated by
commas, in format "option" or "option: true|false"
-v1 or -v2 or -v3 be (terse) or (verbose) or (extremely verbose with debug info)
--noglobal ignore global options file
-k Wait for a keytroke when done
-c c:\sharplinter.conf load config options from file specified. if omitted, will
attempt to read a file 'sharplinter.conf' in the application
directory
-j jslint.js use file specified to parse files instead of embedded
(probably old) script. if omitted, will attempt first to
read the file 'jslint.js' from the application directory,
and will fall back on the embedded version.
-y Also run the script through YUI compressor to look for
errors
-i text-start text-end Ignore blocks bounded by /*text-start*/ and
/*text-end*/
-if text-skip Ignore files that contain /*text-skip*/ anywhere
-of "output format" Use the string as a format for the error output. The
default is:
"{0}({1}): ({2}) {3} at character {4}". The parms are
{0}: full file path, {1}: line number, {2}: source
(lint or yui), {4}: character
-p[h] yui|packer|best *.min.js Pack/minimize valid input using YUI
Compressor, Dean Edwards' JS Packer, or
whichever produces the smallest file. Output to a
file "filename.min.js". If validation fails,
the output file will be deleted (if exists)
to ensure no version mismatch. If -h is specified,
the first comment block in the file /* ... */
will be passed uncompressed at the beginning of the
output.
The options passed with -o should be of the format:
"[option : value | option][,option: value | option]..."
Most options (except maxlen) are boolean, so the "value" is optional, in which case it will be set "true." All options are false by default, and true disables or enables the specified behavior. In JSHINT, some options have the opposite behavior as their JSLINT counterpart, and setting them "true" will actually enable rather than disable a particular validation.
A basic file is included. The file has up four sections. Each section is structured like:

SharpLinter produces output that Visual Studio can use to take you to the file and line associated with each error. It's not an extension, so you need to configure it as an external tool. Do the following:

Go to Tools -> External Tools

Create a new tool with title "SharpLinter" (or whatever you like).

Set "Command" to the path of the executable.

Set arguments to something like this:
-ph best *.min.js -f $(ItemPath)
This will process the active file and compress it to filename.min.js if validation passes.

Check "Output Window"
You are now done. You can lint a file with Tools-> SharpLinter. If you want to make life even easier, add a keyboard shortcut:
- Go to Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Keyboard
- Type "externalcommand" where it says "show commands containing:"
- All the external commands appear as "Tools.ExternalCommand1" through "Tools.ExternalCommand20". These numbers are the ordinal order in which they appear in your list. Choose the right one.
- Click on "Press shortcut keys" and type whatever you want. I like Alt+z. You may have to remove it from something else first.
You can also set it up to process all the files in your project. Make another entry in External Tools, but instead of specifying the active file, use a pattern in your file spec, and add "r" to recurse subfolders:
-rf $(ProjectDir)/scripts/*.js -x *.min.js -x /thirdparty/
for example, to process all files in the "scripts" subfolder of your project, but skip the folder "thirdparty" within "scripts" and don't try to process minimized files.
SharpLinter can be configured as a build tool for Sublime Text 2.
Select Tools -> Build System -> New Build System
Enter the following to create a build config that works against javascript files:

The "cmd" property for Submlime Text 2 should contain the command followed by any options you want, so this could be as simple as

to run SharpLinter with default options against the active file.
By default, build is bound to ctrl+B
in Sublime Text 2. With the build config above, javascript files will be built using sharplinter.
SharpLinter can also be configured as an external tool in the Textpad editor.

Configure -> Preferences -> Tools and click "Add -> DOS Command"

Enter the full path to sharplinter.exe

Select the new tool from Preferences tree end edit options.

Edit "Parameters" so it is a complete command line with any options you want. Use "$File" for the current file, e.g.
C:\Program Files\SharpLinter\SharpLinter.exe --ph best *.min.js -r $File

Enter the following regular expression:
^\(.*?\)(\([0-9]+\)):.*?$

Choose "1" for File, and "2" for Line under the regex input.
Now you're done. Set up a keyboard shortcut, and it will process the active file. You can click a line in the output window to jump to it in the editor.
