What is the mecha-seal?

This project is intended as an exercise in robotics control systems design, development, and implementation. The mecha-seal will be a self balancing robot which will (hopefully) demonstrate stable control of an inherently unstable system using various analog and digital controllers.

The mecha-seal is named after the 1960 Bachelor's thesis by James K. Roberge in which he proposed a solution to the inverted pendulum problem.

What is the mecha-seal for?

Besides educational value, there is little in the way of practical applications for this little robot.

How does the mecha-seal accomplish its goals?

This project will require the effective application of concepts from various engineering and technical fields to be successful.
