Complete application illustrating a XO application hosted thru RESTful API calls in Spring MVC. Exercising a transparent and deterministic ( atomic ) Transaction Management strategy thru the application. Application is layered as to not muddy view, controller, services, storage, messaging, bla, bla, bla but to have it integrate well so that a holistic solution is possible to create quickly and maintain easily. Deployed on JBoss AS7, Ehcache 2.5, Postgres 9.1, ActiveMQ 5.7: Check the Spring config files ( springMVC-servlet.xml, ...) for the <jee .....> tags that illustrate the names of the XA datasource you need to have created for JNDI lookup. Setting up your environment Mac users may have to add an entry 127.0.0.1 <your machine name> in your hosts file 1. Install Oracle JDK 1.7 64 bit 2. Install Jboss AS 7 latest stable build ( 7.2.0 Alpha1 in my case) 3. Install Postgres 9.1 AND create a schema sxo as is references in the persistent model annotations and ensure max_prepared_transactions is greater than 0 in postgresql.conf 4. Create a Data source module in JBoss by: Create a postgres directory in /Applications/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/modules/org/ Create a module.xml file in /Applications/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/modules/org/postgres <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <module xmlns="urn:jboss:module:1.0" name="org.postgres"> <resources> <resource-root path="postgresql-9.1-902.jdbc4.jar"/> </resources> <dependencies> <module name="javax.api"/> <module name="javax.transaction.api"/> </dependencies> </module> Copy the XA compliant database driver into Jboss ...... /Applications/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/modules/org/postgres/postgresql-9.1-902.jdbc4.jar Configure your specific deployment config to create a datasource .... in my case thats /Applications/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/standalone/configuration/standalone-full.xml ......... so I added the postgres config below to the existing datasource stanza <subsystem xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:datasources:1.0"> <xa-datasource jta="true" jndi-name="java:/datasources/postgresXaDS" pool-name="postgresXaDS" enabled="true" use-java-context="true" use-ccm="true"> <xa-datasource-property name="serverName"> localhost </xa-datasource-property> <xa-datasource-property name="databaseName"> jrxopoc </xa-datasource-property> <xa-datasource-property name="portNumber"> 5432 </xa-datasource-property> <driver>postgres</driver> <xa-pool> <is-same-rm-override>false</is-same-rm-override> <interleaving>false</interleaving> <pad-xid>false</pad-xid> <wrap-xa-resource>false</wrap-xa-resource> </xa-pool> <security> <user-name>postgres</user-name> <password>postgres</password> </security> <validation> <validate-on-match>false</validate-on-match> <background-validation>false</background-validation> </validation> <statement> <share-prepared-statements>false</share-prepared-statements> </statement> </xa-datasource> <drivers> <driver name="postgres" module="org.postgres"> <xa-datasource-class>org.postgresql.xa.PGXADataSource</xa-datasource-class> </driver> </drivers> </datasources> </subsystem> Install Maven 3.0.3 so that you can run a 'mvn clean install on the parent pom' and then move the war created in the target directory to you deployment directory in Jboss AS 7 ...... in my case that's /Applications/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/standalone/deployments 5. Download/Install ActiveMQ 5.7 6. Configure Jboss AS 7 to use ActiveMQ as your JMS provider ..... https://community.jboss.org/thread/172319?start=30&tstart=0
