Can not edit tag

I have installed the insomnia-plugin-batch-requests.

When I insert a template tag in the url, and then click on it, a popup appears "Edit Tag".

When I fill in the fields:
Function to Perform: Batch - Placeholder for the Batch Requests plugin
Name: field1
Sample value: 876

Outcome:
The Live Preview shows: unknown block tag: batchVariable
Expected:
The sample value (876).

I also tried to choose the input file, and this is what happens:
Choose PLUGINS, Batch Requests.
A popup opens (Batch Requests).
Choose CSV, Choose file. Then I see the Sample data, 4 records, with column headers (in uppercase) FIELD1 and OUT1.
The buttons on the bottom (Run! and Save) are greyed out and do not work.

Hello @cvdenzen! Sorry you're having the issue, I'll take a look soon.

In the meantime, could you look at this issue on Insomnia itself? Kong/insomnia#8708 Does that look like your error? What version of Insomnia and of the plugin are you using?

Also, can you try the Allow elevated access for plugins setting, if you have it, and see if it fixes the issue? I think that's a relatively new addition to Insomnia that may break some plugins (I personally haven't seen it, because I've stayed on a really old version of Insomnia, 2023.something, which was the last version before they added a bunch of changes that encouraged use of their cloud services)

I've installed the most recent version of Insomnia, v11.0.5, and I did indeed experience the same issue as you. And it was also fixed with the Allow elevated access for plugins setting, so hopefully you can use that to get something that works.

I'll see what I can find regarding those changes, since it seems like Insomnia implemented some sort of sandboxing that breaks the plugin. Which is weird, adding template tags is one of the main use cases of third-party plugins, I can't see Insomnia breaking all of them at once (right?). I'll keep this issue updated with whatever I find.

I'm now quite sure that this is by design; the developers of Insomnia recently added isolation to the request rendering for additional security, and some plugins have been affected (they all add new template tags, which run during request rendering). The best an individual plugin developer can do is to add some instructions to the README instructing users to enable elevated access:

I'll definitely keep an eye out for some way of making Insomnia trust this plugin (I don't want to have to tell users to ignore a big red box that says "Plugins with elevated access can access anything Insomnia can. It's recommended that elevated access remain disabled."), but I don't think there's one at the moment. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, that's what happens when you're a humble developer of a third-party plugin for a larger application. If the host application decides to block your plugin, that's it.

Anyways. Thanks for reporting this, and definitely let me know if you encounter any other issues with the plugin, or if there's anything that the plugin doesn't do but you think could be useful.
