Getting started

To get started with the app, clone the repo and then install the needed gems:

$ cd ~/tmp
$ git clone https://bitbucket.org/railstutorial/sample_app_4th_ed.git sample_app
$ cd sample_app
$ bundle install --without production

Next, migrate the database:

$ rails db:migrate

Finally, run the test suite to verify that everything is working correctly:

$ rails test

If the test suite passes, you'll be ready to run the app in a local server:

$ rails server

On Cloud9, this command should be

$ rails server -b $IP -p $PORT

instead.

To check out the code for a particular chapter, use

$ git checkout chapter-branch-name

where you can find the branch name using

$ git branch -a

A branch called remotes/orgin/foo-bar can be checked out using git checkout foo-bar.
