Short description

Resolves #3938

Implementation details

A timeout for region-created event to allow removing regions right after creation.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Adjusted the timing of the region-created event emission to improve event handling during region creation.

Warning

There were issues while running some tools. Please review the errors and either fix the tool’s configuration or disable the tool if it’s a critical failure.

🔧 eslint

If the error stems from missing dependencies, add them to the package.json file. For unrecoverable errors (e.g., due to private dependencies), disable the tool in the CodeRabbit configuration.

Walkthrough

The pull request introduces a subtle change in the saveRegion method of the RegionsPlugin class. The modification involves wrapping the region-created event emission in a setTimeout with a zero-millisecond delay. This approach ensures that internal events triggered during region creation are processed first, potentially addressing timing-related issues with region event handling.

Changes

File Change Summary
src/plugins/regions.ts Modified saveRegion method to use setTimeout for region-created event emission

Assessment against linked issues

Objective Addressed Explanation
Remove regions except the last created Potential timing improvement, but full resolution unclear from this change alone
Ensure consistent region removal Modification might help with event sequencing, but comprehensive fix not evident

Poem

🐰 A rabbit's tale of regions bright,
Milliseconds dance, events take flight
Timeout whispers, "Wait just so,"
Regions emerge, then softly go
Code hops along with gentle might! 🌈

610-613: Use of zero-delay setTimeout for event emission seems reasonable, but consider microtask timing.

The zero-delay setTimeout is an effective approach to allow any internal synchronous operations to complete prior to emitting the region-created event. However, if you need even finer-grained control of event ordering within the same macrotask, you might instead consider using microtasks (e.g., via Promise.resolve().then(...)). That said, this approach appears fine for your use case.
