Damage Grid Represenation

The current representation doesn't show where system boxes are located. Two ideas off the top of my head, using raptor as an example.
Full grid (Left to right):

Existing grid with context:

Also, warbeasts, horrors and colossals. Existing Grid with context would probably be easiest? Full grid is honestly just encoding a bunch of empty space.

Hi, @jmichaelscott6c! Firstly, thanks for the report :)

Honestly, I forgot about damage locations outside the grid, so I definitely need to figure that out... 🤔

I quite like your idea behind the suggestion using the current structure, ie: 3CC, so 3 boxes, first two boxes are cortext. That seems a really nice, easy way to approach it.

It definitely gets easier with beasts, due to the spirals.

Been chatting with another potential contributor about this, they also pointed out where the boxes start on the grid(s), so we've come up with this solution. It would look like this:

grid = XY*

Where:

X = # of boxes
Y = Starting box (from top)

• = 0 or more box locations (H,C,M.etc.)

So, taking Raptor as an example:

34CC,34HC,43HC,43HM,34HM,34MM

When it comes to spirals, it's actually easier:

spiral = X

Where:

X = # of points on that location of the spiral

I don't know that the starting location for the grid matters too much. It's a matter of aesthetics I think. The practical difference between three damage boxes starting at row 3 and starting at row 4 won't have any mechanical impact.

Yep, no mechanical difference that I know of. Aesthetics are the main concern there - if you want to render a damage grid to match the one in the app, then you're missing the information to do it.

This is true, but I think it's important to have that information in case other projects DO want to display it similar to the existing app (which I do), but ultimately it doesn't matter.
