I'm not sure I'm understanding the issue, it's not supposed to be able to
replace the standard 'Android Keyboard', it should be a separate input method,
and I've installed it on a Nexus S to confirm. Can you give me more details?

- in the "Configure input methods" dialog, do you see both "Android Keyboard"
and "Hacker's Keyboard"? Is there a checkmark next to "Hacker's Keyboard"?

- in the "Set current input method" dialog, which options do you see and which
is selected?

You can reach these options by launching "Hacker's Keyboard" from the
application drawer, there'll be a button for each of them that takes you to the
corresponding settings menu.

Note that on phones, it'll show the 4-row Gingerbread layout in portrait and
the full 5-row layout in landscape mode. You can change that in the keyboard's
settings.

I think I may have found the problem - what's your system language in Settings
> Language & keyboard settings > Select language ? Looks like I have
inconsistent translation strings, and it'll not show up right in non-English
systems. Working on a fix now.

Would you mind trying the release candidate for the next version? I cleaned up
the inconsistent internationalization, it should now show up as "Hacker's
Keyboard".

Can you please try v1.12rc3 from
http://code.google.com/p/hackerskeyboard/downloads/list ?

I've re-activated the internationalized 4-row keyboards, and all the
Gingerbread layouts should be supported in portrait mode now. There's also a
German 5-row QWERTZ layout.

Bulk update - changing "Fixed" to "Verified" for old bugs.

(Background: I'm changing the "Fixed" status to be considered open, the next
steps in the lifecycle will be the closed states "FixInTest" and "Verified".
This lets me mark issues as "Fixed" in commit messages without hiding them from
the issue tracker.)
