HomeKit Secure Video requires a motion sensor to trigger recordings on the Home Hub (AppleTV, HomePod, etc). If a camera is not supported by a plugin, A software motion sensor can be used with the generic RTSP plugin to analyze the video for motion. Instructions are available below.
- Install the RTSP/FFMpeg camera plugin.
- Add and configure your camera.
- Configure all the RTSP streams, including the low resolution sub streams if they are available. Choose the appropriate stream for the various stream types in the Camera's
Stream Management
settings.
- Install the OpenCV or PAM Diff Motion SensorPlugin.
- Do not install and enable both. Use only one per camera.
- Open CV yields better results, but uses more CPU.
- You can enable "Motion Detection Objects" (OpenCV only) to verify the motion sensor is working in the dashboard.
- Install and Enable the HomeKit plugin on the camera. This should be the last step. Do not add the camera to HomeKit until the camera has a functional Software Motion sensor.
