Chaosnet

Chaosnet was MIT's network technology, developed for the Lisp machine. Initially ITS was the file server. There's a Computer History Wiki article with some background information.

Chaosnet offers some services that can be used with PDP-10 emulators:

• Network file system between ITS computers.
• File transfer between ITS and the host.
• Network time servers.
• Remote login with SUPDUP.
• Remote tape backup with RTAPE.

There is a global hobbyist Chaos network. Host systems include ITS, Lispm, PDP-11, VAX, and TOPS-20. See http://chaosnet.net/
