Bug description

Linux 22 Beta: the (clearly labelled 'experimental') Cinnamon Wayland doesn't work in my system. Attempts to log in get met with a black screen and forces me to restart.

Steps to reproduce

Install Linux Mint 22 Beta. When login screen appears, select Cinnamon Wayland. Log in. For me it then displays a black screen and hangs there indefinitely.

Expected behavior

Ideally it would have let me log in with Cinnamon Wayland

Manjaro: the (clearly labelled 'experimental') Cinnamon Wayland doesn't work in my system. Attempts to log in get met with a black screen and forces me to restart.

Steps to reproduce

Install Manjaro. When login screen appears, select Cinnamon Wayland. Log in. For me it then displays a black screen and hangs there indefinitely.

Expected behavior

Ideally it would have let me log in with Cinnamon Wayland

I doubt the issue you have is caused by cinnamon or muffin, it's more likely your nvidia driver installation is deficient/broken.
It works fine here.

Reproducible on me :(
Noted that, even not loaded nvidia mod driver modprobe -r nvidia*, it's still froze after login into cinnamon wayland.

Bug description

In linux mint 21.3, I remember it's working fine with cinnamon wayland experiment, with some bugs, but I can log in.

However, on linux mint 22 with wayland, I can log in and see my mouse, but background is purely black, then hang all/froze entire system(also can't change to tty1 from tty7), I have to use SysRq(alt + prtSc + S|U|B) to reboot my linux kernel forcefully.

Steps to reproduce

I have the same issue when logging into Wayland, just a black screen. Using fresh install of Linuxmint 22.

Trying the following steps worked for me:

  1. Run sudo cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/fbdev in terminal.
  2. If you get N, add nvidia-drm.fbdev=1 to /etc/default/grub at GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX.
  3. Run sudo update-grub in terminal.
  4. Restart
  5. sudo cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/fbdev in terminal should return Y.
  6. Restart before logging into wayland session.

I got N when executing sudo cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/fbdev, followed your instructions, now I get Y. Rebooted and chose Wayland, but still get a black screen, so doesn't work on my pc.
