A student worker approached me with a suggestion about adding some form of class identifier to messages sent via Quickmail. The school he was at before used Blackboard and this feature was included in that messaging system. I'm putting this here to start the discussion about whether this is possible. If so, we will need to take it before the MDAC before we spend any development time.

This feature would be very easy to add. I'd like to make this behavior configurable System wide, because I can see how some universities/organizations would not want any extra information appended to emails sent via Quickmail.

We can append (or prepend) the course shortname to the sending user's name.

Why not prepend it to the subject, like:

[BIOL 1001] You've All Failed

Keep in mind that course shortnames can be really huge (while not supposed to be in the Moodle sense).

"[2012 SpringInt ENGL 2001 for Alexander Hamilton] This was my original subject"

I think the feature is simple enough, and important enough that the shortname of the course doesn't matter.
