I got that now, but the error message didn't tell, so I created a ticket. And the documentation says, --device can be used to set options. Plural. It doesn't tell that you can use it just to set a single option. Not to mention that the comma seems to imply a list.
If this is not too difficult to implement, then I would suggest to support setting several options: --device root,option1,option2,option3,...
