Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is it mmm or m-m-m and what does it stand for?

The project name is Mature Modular Meta-framework. The shortcut is officially mmm. However another project was already registered with that name at sourceforge so the sourceforge project id is m-m-m. Since m-m-m can not be used in some technical situations (e.g. Java package names), it is only used for sourceforge related stuff. The java package namespace is net.sf.mmm while the maven-groupId is net.sf.m-m-m. The project was initially named Multi Media Manager and the code for this purpose has been moved to the multimedia repository.

Where is the mmm?

See downloads.

Will mmm ever change its license in later releases?

Nope. We are are truly open community-based project committed to ASL 2.0. Even we provide specific value for IT business applications there is no company driving the project that is dictating roadmaps or trying to make money out of the code. However, we might once create new modules that can not be licenses under ASL 2.0 due to incompatibilities with other used libraries. In such case we will add a warning to clarify this circumstance.
