I think I might be running into the same issue? Clicking "import" simply reloads the page, with no feedback message on 4.4.1.

I'm getting this when an error (or success) happens fast enough that it's shown on the page that gets redirected away from (to remove the query arg).

Display import messages

Previously, only the export messages were displaying. This wires
up the import messages. There is some duplicate code here,
but we can't put this in a loop, because we need the correcet
translation strings, and we can't use variables.
