Trying Amazon.com product links, IA apparently responds with a URI-M but when the icon is clicked in Mink, the user is taken to https://web.archive.orgnull/

The API has changed significantly and might require us to first register for an API key:

There is still an anonymous option but it is heavily throttled, per @ibnesayeed

Via @ibnesayeed: Oh, I did not realize that authentication is enforced in the SPN2 API. I will talk to the dev about it

So, there does not appear to be an anonymous API available anymore...perhaps. curling using the docs in the above link with my API is straightforward but will need different logic to account for the additional IA headers.

Another day.

https://web.archive.org/save/https://odu.edu/ using HTTP GET should still work with the location header providing the destination.
