Cherry-picked #9044 into the release-ios-v3.6.0-android-v5.1.0 branch. Also added blurbs for #8954 and #9027.

The Android build is failing repeatedly:

:MapboxGLAndroidSDKTestApp:prepareDebugAndroidTestDependenciesConflict with dependency 'com.android.support:support-annotations' in project ':MapboxGLAndroidSDKTestApp'. Resolved versions for app (25.3.1) and test app (25.1.0) differ. See http://g.co/androidstudio/app-test-app-conflict for details.

:MapboxGLAndroidSDK:mergeDebugResources UP-TO-DATE

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

@1ec5 apologies for the inconvenience, we are currently shipping SNAPSHOT dependencies to test a couple of LOST issues, It seems that this commit has broken the build. Going to fix that up in a seperate PR.
