現代に至るまでの経済成長や科学技術の進歩は、情報の蓄積があってこそ実現できたものだ。しかし創作活動による著作権は富を生むため、多くの場合、創作者は著作の自由な改変を許可したくない。そのような創作者を法律は守る形で著作権を尊重している。過度の著作権保護は文明の進歩を遅らせると思うので避けるべきだ。

第5章　情報のオープン化がもたらすがもたらす社会の変革

情報のオープン化は現代の社会に様々な影響を与えていると改めて感じた。
オープンストリートマップのように誰もが地図作成に関わることが出来るのものは、震災時に救援者が至急に災害マップを作り、情報を共有することが出来る。一方で、TwitterなどのSNSで著作権が発生する投稿を最近よく見られるといったような課題もある。このように、私たちはこれから情報を上手に使っていくために、様々な対策をもっと今まで以上に行う必要があると考える。
