現代に至るまでの経済成長や科学技術の進歩は、情報の蓄積があってこそ実現できたものだ。しかし創作活動による著作権は富を生むため、多くの場合、創作者は著作の自由な改変を許可したくない。そのような創作者を法律は守る形で著作権を尊重している。過度の著作権保護は文明の進歩を遅らせると思うので避けるべきだ。
