Welcome to the redmine_latex_mathjax wiki!

Installation

  1. Download archive and extract to /your/path/to/redmine/vendor/plugins/
  2. If you downloaded the zipball (https://github.com/process91/redmine_latex_mathjax/zipball/master), rename the extracted directory to 'redmine_latex_mathjax'
  3. Restart Redmine (e.g. by restarting Apache)

Login to Redmine and go to Administration->Plugins. You should now see 'Redmine Latex MathJax'. Enjoy!

Usage

Anywhere on a wiki page write for inline formulas (inlineMath):

$\sum_i x_i$

and for block type formulas (displayMath):

$$\sum_i x_i$$

Hit 'Preview' or 'Save' to let them show up.

For formatting of display equations in Redmine you can use the following textile template:

table{border:0; width: 100%;}.
|={width: 20pt; border:0;}.|={border:0}. $$ E_0=mc^2 $$|={width: 20pt; border:0;}. (1)|

It will display the equation aligned in the center with a reference number aligned to the right.

It's a bit more trickier to insert a period or a comma after your display equation. You can do it with the following template:

table{border:0; width:100%;}.
|={border:0;padding:10pt;}.|>{width:50%;border:0;}.|={border:0}. $$ E_0=mc^2 $$|<{width: 50%;border:0;}. ,|={width:20pt;border:0;}.(1)|

The above markup creates two more cells around the equation, makes them occupy all available space, and inserts a comma left aligned in the right one. The leftmost cell that serves to counterbalance the width of the reference number uses padding attribute instead of width, because otherwise it will collapse.

FAQ

Q: Why do the formulas don't show up in PDFs?

A: They do not show up in PDFs that are generated by using the PDF link below the wiki pages. See Closed Issue: Formula will not display in PDF export
